Design is a method of solving problems. Businesses that leverage design strategically outperform their peers by 200% on average.

Design has a brand identity problem. While it’s well respected by many in the business community, design is commonly underrated in regards to how design practices can dramatically impact the performance of an organization, and improve their products and services by understanding human needs. My intent for this site is to catalyze a discussion among professionals to help broaden the understanding of design and its role in improving experiences inside and outside of business.

I look forward to bringing together professionals from different backgrounds to bring new perspectives and spark conversations.

SERIAL RABBLE ROUSER | MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY CONSULTANT | INDUSTRIAL ECONOMIST

Background

I use a combination of industrial economic practices and human centered design principles to help clients transform their organizations, products, and services in meaningful ways that produce impactful business results.

Curious Above All

I Love being on the front line solving problems that others avoid.

I’ve been a serial innovator my entire career. Regardless of industry, education, or maturity, one thing that has always been consistent in my professional life is my extreme comfort in ambiguous situations that make others uncomfortable. I’ve had the pleasure of working on some very unique projects in my career, including the world’s first digital medicine, the first successful liver transplant program in Iraq, and revolutionary applications of agentive technology to environment and event experiences. I love being on the front line solving problems that others avoid, and I relentlessly pursue success that balances the delicate needs of all stakeholders, creating meaningful innovations that serve human needs as well as business goals.

Evolution Favors the Generalist

One of my greatest strengths is to understand how lessons from prior experience prepare me to realize meaningful change for my clients.

Today I help to revitalize fortune 500 companies, accelerate growth for developing businesses, and lead teams that bring wildly futuristic visions to life. That’s not where my career began though, and it doesn’t invalidate all my experience that came before. I believe that one of my greatest strengths is to understand how lessons from prior experience prepare me to realize meaningful change for my clients and the organizations I work with. My broad experience and insatiable curiosity have made me a successful and empathetic leader, managing large complex multi-disciplinary teams effectively and efficiently to achieve business goals with an eye on humane experience.

Always driven, always pushing further

I learned the value of hard work and built my work ethic around that experience, being held to a higher standard

I’ve had a full time job for close to 80% of my life. When I was in second grade my parents bought a pizza parlor, now owned by my brother and his wife, and I’ve had a job ever since. I learned the value of hard work and built my work ethic around that experience, being held to a higher standard as the owner’s son, despite being only eight years old at the time. At sixteen I earned my first medical certification, and my second, and third. By eighteen I was an EMT and first ER tech at my local rural hospital. By twenty five, I was the first non-RN managing a surgical service at a top ten hospital in the US. In my twenties I founded my own company to create a platform to reduce the possibility of foreign objects left behind in surgery, and serve as an advisor to several health delivery and education organizations. I returned to school to complete my education in Business Economics at The University of San Francisco, while consulting for numerous clients nationwide, and helping to establish Iraq’s first liver transplant program. I don’t think I’ve yet found the boundaries of my plate, so to speak, but I look forward to continuing to push myself and my clients as far as I can; how else will we discover what’s possible to accomplish together?
